The emissions from almost half a million festival travel miles were balanced this summer through our partnership with festival charity Energy Revolution. 11 festivals took part in the initiative which aims to tackle one of the biggest sources of emissions in the live events industry – audience travel. This is the 3rd year that we have supported festivals in embedding the Energy Revolution Travel Carbon Calculator in their ticket sales page, enabling festival goers to calculate their travel emissions, and the donation required to balance them, at the point of ticket sale.

The figures:

  • 11 festivals took part in 2017 via The Ticket Sellers (Boomtown, Illusive, Just So, Nozstock, Port Eliot, Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Starry Skies, Subsonic, Swingamajig, Towersey)
  • 476,890 travel miles were balanced with donations that will be invested in 100% clean, renewable energy (Energy Revolution will announce where the 2017 donations will be invested towards the end of October)
  • Since 2015 Energy Revolution have helped balance almost 3 million travel miles, turning the negative of festival travel into a positive investment in renewable energy
  • Up to 80% of a festival’s carbon footprint can come from audience travel – invite your audience to balance their travel, ask your Account Manager to add the Energy Revolution Travel Calculator to your ticket sales page
This week Energy Revolution announced that Joss Stone is the first artist to balance a world tour with the charity. Our industry can be a powerful force for change, you too can sign up to Energy Revolution and inspire others to follow. Together we can turn a negative into a positive and keep the party going.
