Uber, the San Francisco based tech company currently disrupting the taxi industry launched in Birmingham on 12th February, earlier this year.
Uber provides rides on demand using a combination of a smartphone app and a network of drivers in major cities around the world. The aim is to make getting a lift quicker, cheaper and safer than traditional taxi services.
At TheTicketSellers we sell tickets for events all around the UK, but we have a particular affinity with Birmingham, what with being headquartered there and all that. So when Uber launched here in the UK's second city we reached out to their team to see if we could work on a partnership.
Turns out they're a really great bunch of people, and they were just as enthusiastic about a partnership as we were. So we struck a deal. For the next few months, anyone buying a ticket from our website for an event in Birmingham gets a free lift there*.
If you haven't tried Uber yet then you should. Uber is super convenient - just use the app on your phone to summon a car whenever you need one.
It's safe - you get the driver's name, photograph and vehicle make/model & registration so you can be sure you're getting into the right car. You don't have to carry or cash (or do the dreaded stop at a cashpoint) and there is no need to tip.
It's also affordable - studies show that using Uber generally works out cheaper than using traditional taxi services.
So, if you're at one of the events we're selling for this weekend and you're not sure how you're going to get home - why not Uber? Give it a try. We think you'll be as impressed as we are with the service.
