Welcome to paradise
At 6am on 11th June, blinking in the crisp, early morning Birmingham air, our events team lugged bags of gear into the back of the X5. Despite being a decent sized 4x4, the car was soon full to the brim with camping gear, entry equipment, food, water, oh, and the team. They were off to Eden Festival where we'd been commissioned to not only sell tickets, but also operate the access control system for the public and crew.
After a four and a bit hour drive (and a fair few coffee stops) the team arrived on site at the rather picturesque Raehills Estate. The car was swiftly unpacked in the gorgeous weather and tents hastily - and with a somewhat cavalier attitude towards instructions - set up in the campsite.
Now the fun could begin.
Before the first day of the festival TheTicketSellers's Entry System needed to be set up in order to grant access to thousands of public ticket holders and event crew. All of this in a field with limited power and varying internet connectivity.
Simple, right?
Well actually. Yes. This is what we do. The gates were set up in record time, each of them maintaining a full copy of the ticket data to ensure that customers can gain access via any gate. When possible, the gates synchronise over the local network and if any of them can also get online they synchronise with our master database for later analysis.
By 11pm on day one our team (supported by our fantastic system, of course) had admitted more people than ever before on the first day of Eden. Not only that, but queuing times had been significantly reduced from the previous day.
The team could finally sit back, relax and soak in the wonderful festival atmosphere.
Eden Festival is a fantastic event. Stunning views, clever layout, lots to do and a diverse musical selection make it a wise choice for anyone to attend. If you're thinking of coming next year we promise you'll have a great time. And we'll be there, making sure you - and the other 9,999 customers - all get in as quickly as possible.
