December is always a very busy month in the ticket industry for ticket agents and promoters alike. With tickets being purchased for events taking place over the festive period and lots of lucky people getting event tickets for Christmas, we know it's important to get the most out of your marketing and promotions.

One of the tools that can help you do that is promotional codes. These can be used alongside a flash sale, like offering discounted Christmas tickets for a short period of time in order to help drive sales. With so many different way of promoting your event, it can be tricky to know how effective your marketing is. You can add special tracking links for your event to find out exactly how successful your social media marketing is compared to your email marketing.

Setting up promotional codes is easy, simply pop us an email letting us know the details of the ticket (price, quantity, name) and let us know what you'd like the code to be. This code can then be typed into a box on the event page to show the new discounted tickets. We can also provide you with a special link that will automatically apply the code making the checkout process even smoother for your customers.

Tracking sales and knowing how customers have landed on your event page can be extremely useful when deciding what types of marketing you want to use. We've made a really simple tool to enable you to do this.

  1. Grab the link to your event/ticketing page. That will look something like this: https://ww2.theticketsellers.co.uk/buy-tickets/the-great-outdoor-show-2018/10044948
  2. Add ?ref= after the event page url and then add your tracking code after this. It will now look something like this https://ww2.theticketsellers.co.uk/buy-tickets/the-great-outdoor-show-2018/10044948?ref=MyCustomTrackingLink. You can add any text you want as the tracking link (a-z and 0-9 only). We'd suggest something that explains where the link is being used, like Facebook or Twitter for example.
  3. When a customer purchased with that link, the results will be shown on the back end of your event (where you'd usually check sales) under the heading 'Reftags'. Here you'll see the number of sales and what tickets were purchased.

You can also use both promotional codes and tracking codes at the same time. By doing this you can run a special offer and track sales with even more details. Once you've had a code set up you can simple stack the codes at the end of the url like this: https://ww2.theticketsellers.co.uk/buy-tickets/the-great-outdoor-show-2018/10044948?promocode=TestPromoCode&ref=MyCustomTrackingLink
